Man@ger – the guild

Man@ger is the students’ guild of Information and Knowledge Management at the Tampere University of Technology. The guild was established in the spring of 2000.

Man@ger organizes many activities for our leisure time e.g. sauna- and movie evenings, parties, playful events like MökkiGames, sport events and industry related events.

The grey overalls

Overalls are traditional clothing for Finnish students, and they are usually worn in student activities e.g. in parties and during Wappu. In most of the students events, the members of Man@ger can be recognized from their grey overalls.

Your benefits as a member of Man@ger

You can spend your leisure time on the sofas of our guild room! Chat & Build relations with other (Finnish) students of Information and knowledge management – probably studying the same subjects and you, and sometimes taking same courses as well.

Man@ger  publishes a guild magazine “Kiltalehti” twice a year. A great opportunity to practice your Finnish skills AT NO COST – it’s for free.

You are very welcome to attend all the events and happenings organized by Man@ger – Sauna-evenings, parties, sport activities and … other stuff. Events organized by Man@ger are a great opportunity for international students to get to know more local, Finnish students. Every now and then there are excursions to visit some companies related (more or less) to our studies. Once in a year there have traditionally been one excursion trip abroad.

International degree students also have a chance to get the cool grey overalls. Contact the international correspondent of the guild to ask more.

Guildroom

The guild room – the center of the operation at TUT campus – can be found in Konetalo building, in the guild hallway between lecture rooms K1702 and K1703.

There is a coffee machine at the guild room – bring your own cup & serve yourself. The coffee fee is 5€ per semester (autumn/spring). With that you can drink as much as you wish.

You can also buy some little snacks –  e.g. chocolate and ice cream in the guild room. The best (and sometimes the only) way to know the selection is to come and check it yourself.

Man@ger t-shirts and canvas logos for overalls can also be bought in the guild room.

How to join the guild?

Man@ger warmly welcomes all the international students at the Department of Business Information Management and Logistics (and other related departments) to join the guild. The easiest way to join the guild is to visit the guild room and express your willingness to join Man@ger to some of the board members. There are usually some (or at least someone of them) spending time there. The membership fee for a whole academic year is only 4,20€.

E-mail list for international students

There is an e-mail list for international members of Man@ger. It is a good way to become aware of the upcoming events and such if you don’t always remember to check the events on the Man@ger website. In order to join the list, please contact the international correspondent of Man@ger.
